Tax Information

Taxes in St. Clair County are comparably low, giving your company an advantage in doing business. There are no occupational or inventory taxes in St. Clair County, and property taxes are among the most competitive in the state.

Property Tax

Each individual municipality must be contacted for information on businesses within their city limits. The EDC can provide this information to you upon request.

Sales Tax

St. Clair County has two different tax rates. The County rate for sales made into the City Limits of Pell City is 1%, while the County rate for sales made in all other locations (including all other cities, towns, and unincorporated areas) in the County is 2%. Reduced Automotive, Farm Machinery, and Manufacturing Machinery rates apply to sales and use taxes. 

St. Clair County Rental/Lease and Lodgings Tax rates are: 1% inside the City Limits of Pell City, and 2% in all other locations in the County. 

Many incorporated cities and towns in St. Clair County collect City taxes. A listing of city tax rates can be found on the Alabama Department Revenue website.
